What is an invitation letter?

It is a genuine letter from your host confirming who is inviting you, why, for how long, where you will stay and how the visit will be supported. It is a supporting document — not a guarantee of a visa.

When is it needed?

Purpose of visit

The letter should clearly and truthfully state the reason for the visit — for example a family function, holiday, or spending time with relatives — along with realistic travel dates.

Accommodation and financial support

It should mention where the guest will stay and, if the host is supporting the trip, how expenses will be handled. Any financial claims must be genuine and supported by real documents.
